Came across this auction today on eBay.

Looks like it has a prototype plenum on it as the pipes on both sides are all metal with no rubber parts. Also, PCV pipe from the TB to the PCV valves is some kind of weird black pipe that doesn't have the tabs to mount to the plenum. Wonder if that LT5 could be a really late prototype that was just before the production ones? Would be interesting to know what the VIN stamp says.

And the guy thinks it's a '95 LT5 (claims it came out of a '95 ZR-1), which it clearly isn't if the cam cover emblems are the originals. Looks like a '90 LT5. I sent him a message letting him know.

Looks like it might be a late prototype, certainly not a 95 - no EGR, dual throttle cables.

The plenum seems pretty normal to me? Though I'm no expert. But it has early exhaust manifolds, no EGR, and a black-label trans, not to mention the cam emblem. Seems pretty likely to be from a '90 and unlikely to be from a '95.

That PCV pipe is interesting. It appears to be bent properly, but appears plastic vs metal.

The hard lines on the plenum indicate pre-production.
I've never seen a PCV setup like that from the factory.
It could be that someone put an early plenum on a '90 engine.
Would be interesting to see the VIN.

The yard selling the engine gets prototype parts & cars from GM for crushing.

that motor looks like a 89 motor. not a prototype it is a pre production engine.

and the price looks pretty good to me $4,000 for motor tranny and cpu..
