Hi all, my name is Paul Schermerhorn. Over my summer holidays away from nursing school, I have spent many many hours reading the posts on these forums.
I dont currently own a ZR1 but I do drive the other GM DOHC engine in the 4.6 Northstar. I recently had some headgasket issues so the engine block was drilled, tapped and studded.
I am an avid GM enthusiast, I do some OBD2 PCM tuning and have installed a marine intake/EFI system in my Vortec 350 truck that allows me to run convetional fuel injection instead of the stock non-adjustable poppet spider.
For these forums providing me with so much info and entertainment this summer, I wish to extend an offer of help to anyone travelling through Ontario on the 401. I live just off the 401 at Sweaburg road near Woodstock Ontario.
My Dad runs a 1 man collision business and he specializes in front end work/alignments. The shop has a drive on "rack" that allows work to be done underneath the vehicle. I have done many a trans swap on my vehicles over the years. If anyone needs an alignment that can be arranged with my Dad as he is licensed and has over 30 years running his shop.
He has worked with many vehicles including all generations of Corvettes and has a 57 Chev Belair 2 door hardtop 283 powerpack, that was featured in the 1997 Snap On calendar (March) as well as in a 1996 15 second GM superbowl commercial for the 1996 Chev Cavalier. The car is a driver and since its frame off resto in 1991 has logged over 70,000 miles. It has scored its Platinum certificate with 994/1000 IIRC.
If anyone runs out of gas, or has a breakdown, and needs some help feel free to contact me. I can supply my Dad's shop number, that would be the easiest way to get a hold of me.
This seems like a friendly community and just wanted to offer help if ever needed. I know what its like to be brokendown far away from home, not a good feeling.
Take care and thanks for the hours and hours of good reading.
peace
