I was reading the corvette club forum that I'm a member of here in Houston and all the C5 & C6 guys in the club with high performance heads cam and long tube headers are getting nailed left and right for running to loud of exhaust systems. So my question is what determines whats to loud? I know the guys that are getting the tickets and I can say from personal experiance that their cars do sound like a nuclear assult coming down the street. And that will definitly get a cops attention. Maybe it just depends on the officer.
This is one of the guys posts that just got nailed.

This officer gave me a ticket for loud exhaust. Since then i have found out that it is his lifes mission to ticket all louder than stock" autos, bikes.

He calls those with loud exhaust, Quote: Hedonistic, Narcissistic

This officer means business. There are many blogs and internet sites that have discussed this man and the way he does his business. Very interesting information.

And what is even better, is that his district has a high crime rate but it seems he has tunnel vision for loud exhausts.

Be very careful around hwy 6. That is his area, and he WILL pull you over. And he is not very nice about it either.

This officer suffers from "short man" syndrome. Most LEOs are decent folks and are vett owners as well but just like in any population there is always a Richard Cranium in the pool somewhere. Sounds like you found him out there in Texas.

I just talked to my freind Andy that got that ticket. If it's louder than 85db the first time is a $265 ticket and the court ordererd him to change his exhaust to something under 85db. I don't care for C5 styling. I like C6 styling much better but his is a 550rwhp car and is scary fast. That thing lobs so much from that big cam you could probably mix chocolate milk in it. Now he can feel the power and torque loss with the Zo6 exhaust and no headers. That's F'ed up.
