After 18 years, my rearview mirror is loose enough so that on Chicagolands finest roads the mirror will tip down and need constant adjusting. Is there anyway to tighten this ball socket or does it need a new mirror?

As far as I know.. time for a new mirror..

Jeff,
Do you know if its a ZR-1 or C4 specific mirror? Or is it standard issue GM?
Be interesting to check your parts database.

Correct, due to the mount..
I would like to retro fit one with the Temp in my car (remember C60 here)

Seen a few with the Home link system with the temp in the mirror and the remote entry button for the garage done in the C4.
You will find a new rearview mirror at the Corvette's at Carlisle............some one help him out.

That would be perfect.. do you know what brand it was? or what car it is out of?

If I remember it was out of a Nissan. Saw a few posts about over the years over in the other forum. One guy was modding them to put the Valentine V1 hidden display inside the mirror as well which I thought was one slick mod. The parts ladi was selling the homelink brand sunvisors which had the garage controls in them as well. A few folks have installed these into C4 but of course left out the mounting details. Link below is of the mirror mods which I thought was slicker than dog snot.

I have a mirror from my 89.
Let me know if you still need it.
I've done the mirror mod with the temp and auto dimmer.
It took 4 tries to get the button to stick on the windshield.
I need to figure out a way to do it to the Z with that special windshield....

Don't replace it worth .000001 in the quarter if you take it out.

if I do this I am not planning on the tab on the windshield, I will try to get it to fit the OEM spot

Any updates to rear view mirror replacement options? I think that Gentex one is pretty cool and I'm in need of a good radar/laser detector too. Has anyone tried to mount one yet using the factory mounting bracket? My mirror has some of those blotches on it and I see some Corvette shop have started to remanufacture our mirrors with new glass too; maybe that is better than factory glass that seems to have a common problem of this blotching.

Thank for your input Daryll. That home link sunvisor mod sounds cool too.

No problem Craig. Dont forget if you go to another brand solution you will lose the orange night glow that shines down over the console area which is one of the reasons why I said Meh. I like the set up in the Nissan I posted up but the hidden display in the mirror would not really be so hidden as low as we sit in our rides. Someone behind you could sse it through your rear window. I choose to mount the V1 hidden display on the left corner of the radio surround simple velcro works well and I routed all the wires behind the radio surround. I was runing a cheap HUD unit for a while that provided compass direction and speed and such but that unit crapped out in less and 6 months and I removed it.

Thanks for the tips and I wish I could find just the glass to replace on the mirror. My old cordless Escort is not good enough and I think it is time upgrade to the V1 that I heard so much about so I'll research how well it works in Japan too.

Craig,
I've got about half a dozen mirrors. Let me check my mini-storage tomorrow to see if any are up to your standards.
