Never knew this but CORSA only has 1 working exhaust outlet, my Borla on the 92 has both functional.

It's supposedly part of the Corsa's harmonic approach to canceling certain frequencies. The second outlet is there mostly for cosmetic effect.

you going to remove them in favor of something else?

I might go Sans Mufflers, I like the Corsa look was going to put them on the 92, but not if its restrictive......for some reason, I thought Haibeck was a Corsa fan....isn't there a comparo on his website with Corsa?

i also thought the corsa might be restrictive. it was on my car when i got it. the car came with the factory exhaust which i cobbled together removing the resonator and the mufflers . i put in a 3in xpipe and 3 in super turbo mufflers with dual outlets to keep the stock look. i found that i dropped 3tenths and gained almost 2mph over the corsa . dont get me wrong the corsa is a nicely thought out system. i really wasnt looking to replace it when i did the other exhaust till i found it made a pretty decent increase in pwer and was as quiet if not quieter than the corsa . so i sold the corsa .

I'm making a note of this - cuz my setup is similar except for the muffs (mine being Magnaflow twin outlets). Quiet it ain't, and there's some resonance at the usual RPMs. Just how much HP/performance the Corsa muff were costing you is a little fuzzy, considering all the mods as a whole, I recon. But, that is a nice improvement to be sure!!

Question: Are the outlet tubes on your tubo muffs long enough to insert a vacuum actuated (e.g., C6-type) flapper? I believe the flapper tube section is approx. 2 to 2-1/2 inches long.)

Nuther Question: Did you replace just the Corsa muffs or was the entire cat-back exhaust a Corsa system?

One more Q: Resonance?

Thanks for posting. (You might guess I've got a hybrid system too; mostly SW and 3" exclusively except for the inlet to the muffs = 2-1/2")

Lee,

Hans still has the Corsa on his 90. I don't recall that his outlet was blocked.

Maybe 2.5 gets it done, would be interesting to take 1 car and just swap the exhaust between Dyno runs.

whar i did was to use the stk pipingafyer th headers and plum in a 3in spipe from summit (the narrow one in the cat) and then continuing the stk piping to the 3 in super turbo mufflers with dual exits ,cut off the dual tips from the stk exhaust and put them on so it looks stk . i used the super turbo muffler after talking with an exhaust guy, saying that the turbo style mufflers dont give that drone we hate . i am going to try 21.2 in super turbo mufflers to see if i can quiet it down just a little more . from what i have read the 21/2 in openings in the mufflers might not cause any performance loss as they are so far back. hopefully i can get to it this week and try it next weekend when i go to the strip at sacramento on sat

I've read Marc's notes. My yellow car had his top end package with a Corsa and hogged out h- pipe. I changed it to a b&b with x-pipe-- hit the rev limiter twice. It rev'd faster!

Lee,

The MF mufflers are going to be similar to the straight thru as shown in Marc's illustration. The 3" inlet splits internally to the twin outlets. Maybe Paul can shine a light thru the Magnas he has if they haven't been put on yet. I know I could see thru mine when I had them off.

I'm sorry, but for real? Sammy from Nevada? You swapped your Corsa exhaust for a custom setup exactly like Jonszr1. And you got exactly the same gains as him. And you even type in exactly the same way as him. How long does this **** have to go on for?

It's 2 1/2". I suspect for most of us mildly modded guys, nothing is squeezing through the Corsa setup.

Not directed at you, but I never really understand the concern with the tips. The pipe is 2.5" from headpipe to tailpipe. If it had dual flowing tips, the system wouldn't flow any better. A single tip from a single pipe of the same size is hardly restricting anything.

But it is annoying that one tip gets dirty and one stays spotless. The way a Corsa muffler works, there is only one resonance chamber. So the systems with dual tips simply have a Y in there. On the 'vette there simply isn't enough room to fit a Y out to the dual tips, so they added a tip to the case for cosmetic effect.

Paint the inside of tip with grill paint.

Lee,for a low cost performance exhaust do what Sammy did.
Stock exhaust replace rasonator w/X-pipe and Dynomax ultraflo mufflers.

FWIW, I did something similar, I swapped the resonator for an LT4 resonator, and the mufflers for 3" Ultraflows. The sound was nice but the resonance was a bear. Once I got headers, I couldn't take it anymore, hence the Corsas. But it looked great and sounded really nice when you weren't steady-state cruising.

I believe sammy/jon/whatever is suggesting Super Turbo mufflers, not Ultraflows. The super turbos are not a straight-through design, though they are probably less convoluted than the factory stuff. They usually are two 180-degree U's with fiber packing inside the Super Turbos.

I remember a video over on the other forum that used a tennis ball to block the non functional outlet. Proved the point but as others have already posted Marc H likes em as well

I cant understand why anybody would be confused. In person im told he a nice guy but dont understand all the need for attention. Its a hard to sift through whats true anymore. Bob's just stating that hes amazed as the rest of us are.

Got to where I hardly pay attention to the name changes anymore. Read a couple sentences and you know who it is if you are a regular around here. Maybe has a little reptile in him living where he does. Feels he has to change his skin from time to time to keep comfortable. Still the same person though. Has a thing for ZR-1s and thats alright in my books.
