Very cool! Although he says "only ZR-1 Conv known". I have personally seen a yellow convertible in the Netherlands that was a true ZR-1 and verified by Gordon Killebrew.

Here's the ebay link.

I just contacted Corvette Mike, Anaheim.

If I get a deal worked out on this car, I'll soon have two ZR1's in the garage.

We'll see.

I saw the other steel blue conv at the NCM. Does anyone have a write-up on this Spyder, black engine car?

I wonder just how they did the Conversion.

But really how many ZR-1 badges can you have on a car?

I agree. The badging is a little over the top. Clean up the badging and it wouldn't look so cheezy. Other than that, I like it.

I'm going to buy a lottery ticket on the way home from work tonight and then drive down to Anaheim.
:razz::hello:
The badging on the forced air induction port, the badges on the door panels, and the badge on the console below the radio will be the first to go when I get her home.

Where do you suppose they hid the engine power key?

I wish I knew more about the car and how it came to be. Seriously trying to work a deal on the car.

Does anyone know ANYTHING about this car and it's origin?????? I have to admit that I'm more of a 53 guy than anything else. If and IF this is a special car, I am more than seriously interested.

Is it a wide body build? It has 17x11's that don't stick out and the rear view looks wide to me OR is it an aftermarket rear bumper that just makes it look wider??

Opinions or knowledge of this cars history?????

There is another thread on this, note that the car was built by metalcrafters who does do a lot of concept cars for the major car companies.

I would call them.

I Googled them but did not find them. It looks a lot like the other steel blue ZR1 conv that was at the NCM but obviously not the same car. I don't recall ever seeing any articles on this car in magazines. Those cheezy Spyder emblems would have been a tip-off.

I now see the othwer Thread. Thanks, Lee.

I looked through their Gallery but did not see this car. I'll call them tomorrow and see what I can find out.

Thanks again, Lee.

Looks like ASC did the Spyder:

From the VIN, 1991 ZR-1 #1322 started life as a Steel Blue with Blue interior. There are no special RPO codes associated with the car. The gill panels were obviously added after 1995 since they are off a 1996 model.

Neat car. I would like to have it too, but........
Needs paint work, all new interior (back to stock) they dont show the soft top must need a new one too. So, after I dump 10-15k on top of a 39K no thanks for me.

Looks more ASC did the chop then metalcrafters. Good find Lee

I didn't see where it needed paint work. I'd take off the Spyder badging from the outside and inside and put the correct seats in it. I'd also relocate the power key back to a stock position. The top is still in good shape. Also comes with a hartop.

I spoke with Metalcrafters. They are looking for more info to provide.

Since I like the rare stuff, I think it would be neat to have it.

I'm the same way, I like having something that is rare and not common. The difference between you and me is that you actually have the $$'s to buy cars like this, whereas I can only dream about it!

whats going on the the door handle area

I hadn't noticed the door handle area. Interesting but an easy touch up. Rockers would be an easy paint as well.

Definitely looks driven and needs detailed to be show ready, which would include paint touch up. I would definitely have to remove all of the cheezy badging before being seen in it.
Is it worth the asking price? Dunno for sure. One thing's for sure though. There aren't too many out there. Four? DR1, NCM Steel Blue, ASC Spyder, this car.

Thanks for pointing out the areas.

More than that.
There's a white 'vert in BC Canada.
A black rose '90 in Germany.
A red '90 that got wrecked a few years ago up in Seattle area.
A red '90 in Norway.
A black 93 (?) standard C4 with a LT5 engine in Poland.

And weren't there a couple of Callaway SuperNatural Speedsters that were technically 'verts?
