Mike told me about a cool car event on Saturday mornings, so we drove up there yesterday in my Z (he's taken his a few times already).

Snapped some pictures, thought they might be of interest:

Nice stuff.......F40 is awesome.....all business!

Does the new SLS AMG Mercedes look as good in person as in the pics?

I did not know about this gathering, but based on the pics it is at the Great Falls Village Center off of RT193 (Old Georgetown Pike) at Walker Road... the one pic that shows the Ferrari 512 in front of the Old Brogue Irish Pub...'X' marks the spot>>

Now that I know about it I will be going...The Old Brogue is an old watering hole for me...

Some very cool cars...might have to check this place out one Saturday morning. Any idea what time it starts?

It's off Georgetown Pike, not sure the exact address but it sounds like Michael recognizes it. We got there around 7am and it was fairly empty, but it filled up fast. Also, you get to see the cars driving if you get there before them.

The SLS is hideous.

Well just found this from my own Northern Virginia Corvette Club site>>

The official start of Katie's Cars & Coffee will be the first Saturday in April. It will run through the last Saturday in October. Invited are all classic car buffs in the greater metropolitan area. Scheduled time is from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, weather permitting, every Saturday in front of Katie's, which is located at 760 Walker Road, Great Falls, VA. (If you are not familiar with Great Falls, Katie's is located behind BB&T Bank and the post office off Georgetown Pike, next to The Old Brogue Restaurant.)

Katie's Coffee Shop will reserve all the parking spaces directly across from their entrance, for use by Cars & Coffee participants. There will be signage identifying the reserved spaces.

For those new participants, the concept behind the gathering is threefold: first, it's a pleasant destination on a Saturday morning; second, it's a chance to spend time with other car guys and gals while still being able to get home in time for weekend activities; and third, to have a good cup of coffee and view some really cool cars.

Stay as long as you want and, if you care to head down the road with others for a longer morning drive, that's great too.

The more the merrier, so feel free to share this information with friends and members of area car clubs who might also like to participate. Everything from antique trucks to rare Ferraris are welcome. Local Triumph, Jaguar, Corvette, Austin Healey, and Ferrari clubs, for instance, might be interested in learning about the event. If you have a contact at any of these clubs, please pass the information to me so that I can add them to our database.

Try and join us as many Saturdays as possible to make this a weekly event in Great Falls. Some of us will be there beginning this weekend, since the weather promises to be terrific, so feel free to stop by.

Wow. That was awesome. Good to see you all. And I have to say, that F40 parked next to me made the ZR-1 look high off the ground. Not many cars can do that.

very cool event with an interesting mix of hot rods and MANY exotics that you don't often see

lots of ferrari, lambo, r8s, jags, mercedes, cobra, and triumph, hot rods, ect...

great to see the ZR-1 REPRESENT as we are the "exotic" of the corvette clan

I drove up the twin turbo Z06, but next time the ZR-1 will be there

I've been getting out to the major cruise spots quite a bit this year. look for pics and write up in future newsletter.

this is a good time, come on out! great to get out in the cool air for a "gotta get some coffee dear" run. she just wondered why it took 3 hours!:)

made it out last 2 weekends and despite the cold weather turn out has been great. I stopped by on the way to the WAZOO event and the gang helped swap out a c4 clutch

owner was quoted 2200 for new clutch and dual mass

swapped in a fidanza and valeo for about a quarter of that, he got a good deal on the labor (free)

thanks to the Jim and the WAZOO gang for the hospitality, weather warmed up and it was a great turn out and alot of fun!

ask about the "tranny lift" ;)

Great event! Too much work and not enough (hardly any) Z time is driving me crazy! Hope to make it out to more events! This photo from Nov 10... the last time I had the Z out of the garage!

Pictures from today's meet. Lots of cars there, and four ZR-1's (though I didn't take pictures of them all). Good to see Michael, Yun, and Phil out there with their cars, and to ride down in a Z with Mike. Phil's lowering looked great. I meant to check out Michael's painted exhaust, but didn't get around to it. There were tons of cars out today:

Bob, in your link you have a picture of a Midnight Blue 67 GTO convertible with a White Top and White interior. Did you happen to talk with owner or take a close look at the car?

doesn't matter to me. there's only 5 real daytonas and the closest one to dc is in a museum in philly I believe. I'll never have the money to buy a real one so i'll have to settle for a kit car.

but fired by a Corvette engine :dancing

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/MRBLU/CIMG2912.jpg

Car was actually made by an Italian company that 'stole' the Ferrari look and dropped in a Corvette engine...story goes that after about the 4th one produced big brother Ferrari contacted company and basically said 'cut the merda out' otherwise.... well the end of the car.

Finally, I almost bought one of these when they first came out...anyone can guess what it is...and it is powered by a V4 (thus the very small hood opening)>>

I didn't talk to the owner. I took a look at the car up close, though not necessarily a close look.

And it looks like I missed a V coupe last week, though I think the dragstrip was more fun!

that daytona brought a tear to my eye

The owner told me that it was a Shelby cotinuation car made by Shelby in the early 2000 (2003? 2004? can't quite remember). Sold with 65 manufacture date.
