UPDATE
Well folks, most of you were involved with our 20th ZR-1 Anniversary party here in Bowling Green and many attended our BBQ and presentation on Thursday evening. We had a tremendous turnout and raised some funds for our troops over in Afghan Land.
Thanks to all of you who helped us build a little "war chest" for the 1st Platoon, 101st AIrborn Air Assault Division, US Army currently stationed in Afghanistan. If you hear the news you've heard of several casualties in recent days, in fact, some of the deadliest fighting in a long time. Our 20th ZR-1 Anniversary Guest of Honor, Sergeant First Class Eric Egelstad, 1st Platoon Sergeant, can't be specific but he says our troops are kicking some BIG TIME BUTT!!!
I got up early today and went shopping. I have found that the US Postal Service has a Flat Rate box available for APO (military postal addresses). It costs $13 a box and the boxes are 12x12x5 so its expensive but thanks to all of you, our first shipment is today and we're filling 20 boxes. Today we're shipping food and high calorie, high energy items. A Playstation is coming, with plenty of games (is Tiger Woods now considered porn???), and we'll get around to the cigarettes and snuff. In the meantime, we got them plenty of sunflower seeds and bubble gum. :-). Yes, there's a football (US NFL Style) and a few other treats.
Instead of any packing materials, bubble wrap etc, we're using food! I really went nuts on the candy for give outs. Our troops need all the friends they can muster and a piece of candy here and there might give them a warning at just the right time from one of the local kids.
I'll post some pics on our website when I get a minute. Thanks again gang.
Like I said, we Air Force guys are always having to bail out the Army....
