Last March I was at the Portland OR. swap meet and there was a 1990 LT5 motor there. Well like every body else who knows what an LT5 is, I low-balled him and left him my number. Monday, the guy called me and asked if I still wanted the motor and I just couldn't say no... here are some pic of my new LT5.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with it yet. I sent my wife an email with a picture of the LT5 coffee table and she said "Hell No" - she's putting her foot down on that idea. So, I guess I'm going to get to learn how to build a 368.

Thanks to Eric Jackson for helping me decypher the the VIN number to check that its is not stolen.

Great find Eric. I see it didn't take you long to get your anniversary poster up. Mine's still rolled up with the other one.

Hi Eric,

Nice find.

Wow, I see you aren't one to let grass grow under your feet! Like Hammer said, but I see that you not only have the anniversary poster framed, but also the "Lightning and Thunder" poster too. Good job!

My dad and I enjoyed visiting with you at the Gathering. You'll have to send me some pics of the "Black Beast" in the background - I'd love to see some.

Take care.

Jeff

Is that the proper way to pull the motor?
Never seen a motor to pulled in that fashion...

Nice pickup....

That is the proper way to pull an engine out of a pickup bed. That is a load tested 1/2 ton chain fall.:-D Its true rigging is what i do for a living.

Oh the rope..Thats a Kent Moore rope $1500 on Ebay..The guy threw it in for free. The plenum is not the weak link its fuel rail lines and the ignition module and every thing else the rope is wrapped around. But that rope has been on the there for the last 15 picks before i owned it so figured if there's any damage its already done.

I ran a Car Fax. The last reported mileage is 4351 7/95 and the car was scrapped in 3/96. I guess the motor been sitting around for 15 years.

pulls just fine all the kent more tool does is thread into the heads so its no different.

you ddin't hurt that thing like you said they did it already.

So I started the tear down the motor today and I?m starting to believe this maybe a low mile motor. It really was not that dirty and the VIN records say it was low miles when the car was totaled. Somewhere along the line someone rapped it of a few parts.

Coil tray
Compressor
Alternator
Starter
Wire harness

I may have one of the local experts stop by and check it out for me this weekend and give me there opinion on the mileage.

It?s been an absolute Blast to tear down this motor. I?ve learn so much about the LT5 this weekend and when I board with working on the motor I just jump in the Z and go for a ride.:dancing
