Beech Bend boarders the river just to the north of the track. That is where the flood waters are from. The track is low in the valley if you remember. It's not going to be easy to move all that mud away from the track. I was there one year when BB was a giant mud hole.
The NCM is on much higher ground off the interstate. BG is on pretty high ground. I do hope every one is safe. And all will be fine.

New's that lot's of people from the C5-6 bash left early because of the rain instead of waiting it out for a few days. And some found out that bottom feeders and H2O don't mix :jawdrop:

Oh, wow...The water appears to be about 8 feet or so deep at the observation building - first floor is completely flooded... Dayam!

GS Nationals officially cancelled. New date is October 19-23.
Doubtful about drag racing next week , that track is going to be in very bad shape. Clean up efforts will be under way for a 100 mile radius of BG.

frank is right, Buick Nats drag racing officially cancelled, and it would be a miracle for the track to clean up and open

it might dry out, but with that kind of flooding, damage is almost 100 certain

folks, NCM is FINE and gathering is on, but no drags this go around

Frank, I believe from conversations just last Friday that although it is a big disappointment - far as racing goes - the flooding has NOT dampened anyone's intentions of going to the gathering. The spirit of the FBI will be there, if not the tire smokin! Pete's outrageous 350, Kevin's shiny new 441 car and Bob G's 427, Dom's nicely modded 350, Jim's stock Z, Marc Haibeck is bringing his Z, and perhaps a few others will be there. (Alas, mine will not make this trip; some last minute FBI mods from Marc and Pete's "Skunkworks" garage won't be done in time - delays at the hands of a third-party machinist, doancha know...:rolleyes:.) Haven't heard if Hans is going to make an appearance, but we hope so!

Hans and Dons won't make it. I'll be there coming in on Thursday with Fred and his 90. So we should have 6-7 FBI'ers there. Would have been great to have =Jeff=, Lgaff, and Al there too. Maybe next time.
