in the standing mile. Congrans to Ken (great guy). This was going into a 15 mph headwind. Rumor has it at the private track the day before he went 269.9.

This, in my opinion officially kills the Supra as the car to beat in this sport. The king is dead, long live the king!

The standing mile is just what it sounds like, run what you brung, and no other rules pretty much lol.

That my friend is what a 2200 hp car sounds like. It spells the end of the supras imho, as we are bouncing the rev limiter at ~250 mph. SW is currently changing the rear in his supra to a 9" ford irs setup so he can run a gear more suitable to the mile than the 3.12:1, so we shall see.

Rumor has it the ford gt has ~750k in it, not that it matters, it is just plaine MEAN.

Oh, the "street racing" sport. I see.
Very entertaining sound for sure.
Sounded like it was missing just after entering 2nd.
Once that is straightened out it may hit 270 !
Scratch the supra, long live the GT :)

Well I thought the zr-1 guys would find this interesting, since life begins at 180. Don't the zr-1 guys do something similar to this at a airstrip, or am I wrong?

I do think some have done that. It's not at the center of activities. Not sure what the flat out max speed done by a zr1 is. I do know I've see low 9s at one of the gatherings at the Bowling Green drag strip by a street legal Lingenfelter twin turbo. Then there was a strip only zr1 that did upper 8s as I recall.
But at those venues it's time not top speed that matters.
And there are official time slips handed out.
Personally I don't have a slip by can tell you my stock 90 zr1 has seen 176 and had some left over. Nope life has not begun for me yet :)
Seems to me there was a zr1 at the Bonneville salt flats in the mid 250s but cant remember who, when or actual top end.
Maybe someone will chime in.
They are very few fords I wouldn't sell to get a vett. The GT 50 is one.
It's just got that look.

Neat video, i wish they would have had an inside over the shoulder camera, so you could see what 260 plus looked like, from the driver's view.
Ford GT's are cool cars.
Robert, to anwser your question, yes, we have had standing mile runs for our ZR-1's. Stock cars run the mile around 160 mph.
Lightly modded, around 166 mph. and I Believe a 415 ZR1 ran in the upper 180's.
I was at Nellis AFB a couple of years back, it was a really neat event, Jerry's car up against a fighter plane, piloted by Ron.

I'd like to see how fast a turbo'd stroked out ZR1 would fare..hmmm

Here's a pic of MY favorite Ford GT.

that's just insane....a stock zr-1 will need about 5 miles to hit 180 if I'm remembering correctly....267 and change....i'm floored.

I would rather build my spare fleabay motor specificly for turbocharging. May even set it to run e85, if not definately meth injection. I still have a lot more brain picking to do, and Ron and Jerry should prove invaluable to my quest
