Dave, I'd like to try to link my convoy up with the WAZOO convoy if possible?

I figure we will be around Charleston WV on Tuesday the 11th, and looking to do the run into BG on Wednesday the 12th.

Tom,
What time do you guys plan on leaving from Charleston on Wed morning? I would love to try to meet up with you guys, but I'm afraid that you will be a little to far ahead of us. If at all possible, we will try to meet up.

It would be cool to meet up with the slower guys (cars) :p from the south. Lets look at some meet times and if it is reasonable I do not mind waiting for them (my WAZOO brothers) I'll buy breakfast while we wait.

Hey Dave,

What route does the WAZOO folks go out to BG? Do they travel out through WV. Last year didn't you folks do it in one day?

I'm going out with Tom's group, would be  to put both groups together to cruise into BG.

I for one wouldn't mind waiting a bit for you folks. Please get back to us with your route and timeframes.

Thanks, John

Where is a good place for those WAZOOs coming from south of the Mason-Dixon to link up?

Phil,
I was thinking along I-70 in the hagerstown area, but I'm open to other suggestions if someone has one.

Okay, I just want to say that I'm in agreement with Rick & John on the waiting for the WAZOO convoy......we can sleep a bit later & drive a bit longer the first day & make it to Huntington WV. I know a Days Inn @ $40/night, stayed there last yr. Place was clean, no frills, but clean, Okay?

Frank, what do you think?

I'll ask Lou & Doug what they think about adjusting our departure on Wednesday AM to intercept the WAZOO convoy, okay guys?

Fine with me. We will have @ a 4.5 hour drive to BG from Huntington W.Va.
I'd like to meet up around noon time if that is possible. What say crew ?

How about the Shoney's at 17301 Valley Mall Road, Hagerstown?
Its about 1 mile before I-81 intersects I-70.
You take exit 5 Halfway Blvd. going east.

Is it possible that the WAZOO clan would be willing to meet in Hagerstown around 6:00 so that we woun't be holding up the other group too long?

Guys,

I did some more research. If I found the correct Days Inn in Huntington ??? Exit 15 of I64 the cost for 5/11 night is $67.14 with tax. This location is 4-1/4 hours to BG and 5 hours from Hagerstown MD. (Does this sound right Tom??) If the WAZOO guys leave at 6:00 AM from Hagerstown they would meet us at about 11:00 AM.

There is another alternative. I found another Days Inn in Fairmont WV Route 250 off of Route 73. Cost on 5/11 night is $61.60 with tax. This location is just under 7 hours to BG and 2-1/2 hours from Hagerstown. If the WAZOO guys depart Hagerstown at 6:00 AM they would meet up with us at this location around 8:30 AM. Which puts us into BG before 4:00 PM, considering a lunch and pit stops for us old folks with bad bladders.

The second alternative (Fairmont), in my opinion seems to work out better to hook up the caravans. Of course the WAZOO departure from Hagerstown is what we have to work off of for timing.

Any comments or suggestions???

As usual John you are on top of the situation!

I'll vote for the least expensive place to stay,.......because I'm cheap! And I would really like to combine convoys with the WAZOO guys!

Hey Tom,

I like the cheaper Days Inn because it splits the trip a little better and we should only have to wait until 8:30 or 9:00 for the WAZOO gang. I think I am going to try to call the place and see if we can get a better rate. It sounds like we will be needing at least 5 rooms. I will not commit to anything, I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks, John

Jim and I had a change of plans and will be meeting up with you guys for the trip. Is this location set in stone? And is 6:00 AM the time?

We will be meeting at 0600 at exit 35 off of I-70. There is a park and ride 1/4 mile off the interstate towards smithsburg with easy access back onto 70. The valley mall rd isn't all that close to 70 & I thought this would give us easier access on and off. Tom, let me know where you guys are spending the night and we will do our best to meet you guys as early as possible. Any ? send me a PM.
Thanks,
Darrin

Darrin,

right now it looks like Fairmont is going to be our stopping point on Tuesday evening. Day's Inn looks to be the place. As soon as my crew votes I will PM you or call you with the skinny.

I'm so looking forward to doing this, it's going to be a great time!:dancing
