I remember seeing one at Eglin AFB Museum in Florida

That guy is an amazing writer. Fabulous piece!

I kind of feel that way when I drive the Vette. Spectacular piece of American ingenuity at 160mph. Although I am sure the Vette isn't near as smooth at top speed as the SR-71 was described to be. Still as exhilarating though I am sure.

My ZR-1 in triple black parked in the garage looks just as sexy as one of those SR-71's does parked in a hanger. ;)

What a brilliant plane! Look up the word FAST in Websters and you'll see a picture of the SR-71. Maximus Acceleratus. MEEP MEEP! I've been a fan of the Blackbird since seeing Revell models of it in the 60's. Then the models all went away. Couldn't find them anymore.

Saw them take off almost everyday when I was stationed at Beale AFB, CA. The U-2 was cool to watch, too.

A-12 was the earlier version of the SR-71. Last used in 68'. A-12 was single seater.

One of our members Tony Baqua (sp) was a pilot for the SR71.
I wonder if he is still in the club? I met him at the Pirate Racing dinner in Palm Desert
at JVDs old haunt.
Also see this site for info on the YA 12.
