In last 12 months (especially during 8 months I was out of work) with a lot of help from WAZOO guys I have pretty much sorted out all mechanical and suspension woes - injectors, shocks, sway bar noise, front upper "A" arm, etc...
Only thing remaining are rear bearings and "C" beam plate install to be followed by new clutch (may be since I found out when Jim's clutch was removed it was still good dispite high milage).
A couple of weeks ago while backing into tight downtown parking spot in a garage I scraped my passenger side rear quarter (perhaps an intentional slip?). So I embelished the truth and told my wife partial repair won't work and only option was a total repaint or a new car - guess what her preference was.
Well, I pulled the trigger and dropped off the car at the body shop in Bel Air, MD yesterday - bye, bye 16 years of scratches and GM acid rain etchable paint! Two weeks and I will finally have a car I had been dreaming of since 2000.
Ofcourse, there are exhaust headers, refinishing wheels, new tires, P&P... Does it ever end???:occasion1

Yun,
I'm very happy for you. You've worked your tail off on your Z. I hope the paint job exceeds all of your expectations. I'm looking forward to seeing that Blk/Blk beauty!
With your newly acquired suspension expertise, maybe we can take another run at getting the back end of my Z to sit level.
Regards,
Scott

Thanks to all for good wishes.
Scott,
I was thinking about your rear suspension. I wonder if sway bar was worked on when the car was tilted. Also, rear strut camber adjustment was way too different between the left and right.
Perhaps we can take another closer look at the WAZOO gathering.

I know the sway bar was removed when the 4:10 gears were installed. I'm thinking we are going to find that the strut camber adjustment will be a key component to fixing the problem. Hopefully we'll get some rack time at the next WAZOO meeting and we can mess with it.

I will be tearing into rear bearings soon with Phil. We decided that we will pull both half shafts, replace all U-joints while at it. Hopefully I can gain some more insight into rear suspension.

Unfortunately car was dropped off already and its about 2 hrs away.
Worst part was when i bought the car in 2000 June in Birmingham, AL, I inherited acid etching on all horizontal surfaces. Also, the motor must have jumped up once because I see 2 stress cracks on the hood - one near palstic intake and another near passenger side latch.
The car has some wavyness on both doors (never been hit though).
So, I asked for block sanding (after matching all panels) before the shoot and wet sand before cut.
ofcourse, abter one week I will end up with spyder webbing - black car!

Must be a common problem, I've got cracks in those places too. Can't wait to see the final product!

A quick update:
I just couldn't stay away. So, I drove up to Bel Air, MD to check and make sure Brian and Taylor are following my directions - and yes they are.
My 94 seems to be the only car in the shop at the moment. She was disassembled, damages filled, sealed and block sanded - ready for color coat. Expected delivery - mid next week.
I feel like a 10 year old kid on December 15th!

It's still not too late to throw some pearl flakes into the black paint before they spray it on!

A father and son team who just opened their own shop recently. I could tell that they love doing what they do just talking to them. That's what made me take the car to their shop.

Just got off the phone w/ the painter.
Z will be cut and buffed today. Tomorrow he will assemble the car. He asked me for Wednesday pick up just in case.
I got a set of GM roof panel weatherstrip (did not want to take a chance) and a set of door weatherstrip from "Melrose T-Top" (thank you David and George. I am really impressed w/ Melrose product. Maybe I will replace garbage halo weatherstrip (prdered from e-bay and really disappointed) and A pillar w/ Melrose. 2 weeks in a rental is killing me!:thumbsdo:

I just checked the Melrose t-top catalog and its funny the picture on page 18 of the catalog where they list the C4 weatherstrip http://www.melroset-tops.com/melrose_catalog.pdf
shows the same photo as http://www.corvette-rubber.com/8489door.shtml
so it would seem that melrose sells corvette rubber products.
What did you pay at melrose I wonder if its cheaper or more than corvette rubber.

O.K!
I finally got the car back last night. What a feeling to shed 16 years of scratches and scrapes!:occasion1
I still need to take it back in about a month for another round of polishing since the paint will shrink. Also, one area, clear was burned thru and needs to be reshot.
Now that I got her repainted, she responds by losing vacuum under the plenum... I got to track this down.
