Any of the generous folks on this board willing to loan me the LT5 Harmonic Balancer installer for a week or so? I've tried to pull my balancer onto the 427 with a 6" M16x1.0 bolt, nut and washer. It worked for awhile, but I didn't have the key lined up and tore the key all up in the process. Now the threads on the bolt are getting dodgy, so I would rather not use that method again. 'Fraid to damage the Bryant crank threads.
I'll gladly pay round trip shipping if you have one to loan.

Todd, did you cut down the ATI balancer to fit the crank?

How so, Jeff? The hub pulled on all the way to nearly the end of the key. At that point, I decided to remove and try again, when I discovered it ate the key up because the alignment was slightly off.
I modified the w.p. boss to avoid interference with the balancer.

Anybody...Anybody.... Is this thing on? Getting close to that point in the process where I just get pizzed and throw in the towel.

you should of had a yellow paper in the box. It had gave the measurements for fitting the hub to crank snout.

Todd,
I've got the one that I made, which is similar to the adapter that Carter just made for Craig.
I'd be willing to let you borrow it, but it might cost you some BFXB disassembly info. ;)
PM me if interested.

For the record, I did tell Todd he could use my tool but he should try & find one closer to save the cross border B.S. & believe me, there can be some B.S. involved.
Not sure exactly about cutting the ATI? Jeff called me when he had trouble with the one he had problems with a few months ago, but I can't exactly remember measurements to cut & what not...sorry :dontknow:.

You need to trim the water pump bolt hole boss, and remove the front cover timing tab. Then the ATI will fit the front of the motor.
What I think Todd is having a problem with is , the ATI hub is too tight on the crank snout. The yellow or pink paper work said how much interference the fit is to be. I had to have my hub honed out for the Moldex crank.

I had to have my hub honed out for the Moldex crank.Part of the problem is the good Billet cranks are so much harder, the snout has less give when dampr goes on. See it all the time. Some guys will heat the hub, & while that helps it go on, it dosen't help to get it back off, when the time comes. Honing the dampr hub is not the easiest thing with-out the tools stone catching the keyway in the hub. I dynoed a Pontiac 400 today, pushed the dampr all the way on with my hand, seiously, LOL! What a joke those are

Right, did the w.p clearancing and no timing cover tab. No worries about clearance. The hub actually fits my crank with the specified interference fit. Might be because they used my crank snout dimensions as the basis for the drawing, alledgedly. It pulled on snug with a little lube, not horribly tight as to require honing.

Just checking... have you made arrangements on the tool? I have this tool and live in Kansas City if you still need. Happy to help.

Troy, stand by and thanks for the offer. I will try my bolt method tomorrow again and see if it works.

Threads are now repaired on my 6" rod. :-D Will try to pull the hub on tomorrow. Appreciate all the offers for loaner tools. Might still need them, so stand by.
Totally, way, way, off-topic....if anyone is thinking about dinking around with some engine calculators or simulation, have a look at the group buy being run at www.quarterjr.com (http://www.quarterjr.com). This is being run by the SpeedTalk forums. For $99 bucks you can get almost $1100 worth of software (30+ programs). With about 100 more purchases in this group buy, they throw in Engine Pro, their top line program. I've not used it, but hope it comes through 'cause I'd like to get it.
