I had a great conversation with TomTom72 the other day in regards to fluids in the ZR-1.
Seems like this fluid is the way to go and Bill B also seems to recommend it for the ZF-6 which in and of itself should make it a no brainer. Tom uses it with no problems whatsoever and he does a decent amount of mileage per year.
Upon researching it on several forums, it appears that there are also a bunch of guys who don't like it and question the choice. However, we all know everybody has their opinion.
I would be interested to see who all here is running the Castrol and how long you have been running it in your transmission and any issues/concerns?
Also, apparently there are others that are approved to such as the old gm stuff, the newer revised Gm fluids and apparently some others.
If you know, please post the part #s.
Thanks for your help.

Had Redline, it foamed out and was all over under the car. This was from high speed run 150+ for 10 miles.
Used the BMW shifting was smoother, from Redline. No foam out.
The last in it is, Amsoil Synchromesh. No high speed runs yet. shifter feels same or smoother then BMW.

My trans gets a little funny every once in awhile if I hit third gear a little rough so Ive been wanting to replace the trans fluild but havent had a chance.I was going to checkout the Castrol but might look into the Amsoil.

I've been running the castrol tws, I had two oil analysis done on it after 3000 miles and on both of them the viscosity dropped to 30 weight oil. Haven't had any problems though, but I change it every 3000 miles for that reason. Some others at the track run redline shockproof and don't have any problems.

You change your transmission oil (Castrol TWS 10W-60) every 3,000 miles?
Viscosity dropped from 60 wt oil to 30 wt oil? I guess this is normal as Bill B. suggested viscosity drops from 60 wt to 37 wt after 12,000 miles.

Actually that's with about 2000 miles of track time between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm for 25 minute intervals, with it running hotter than normal and higher torque than normal for that amount of miles. I just changed it for added insurance, so I could sleep better.
It still only gets changed about once a year.

Kevin, you needed to add Redline Anti-foamer:)
I have bought a bunch of old GM stuff i'm still using.
I've tried the Castrol in cold temps shifter was a little notchy.

Shifter will tend to be notchy when Castrol is cold but that goes away as trans oil heats up.
