I emailed the guy who's selling it and asked what is needed to complete this motor and he responded, 'intake fuel rails and electrical.'

Looks to have the later style exh manifold mini-studs in the corner
bolt holes. Early style has the large center stud, rest are bolts.

Thanks guys, I've asked the seller for the engine ID # and some better close up pics. Anyone from NH way possably know about its history? The story I got from the NH seller the original owner picked it up several years ago with the intentions of installing it in a Camaro project. Unfortunately the gentleman passed away in the meantime and the engine has been setting around ever since.

Here are some better pics the seller just provided.
By the look of the heads the engine appears to be of 93-95 vintage and has seen some use.
Can anyone comment on the shot of the front?

It's later 93-95 motor. Don't know if it's a test mule or production.

I think we have seen this motor before???????

Look at the front balancer, it looks like it coming apart. Someone had this for sell a year or 2 earlier.

93-95 for sure
Besides all the other good points, here's one more.
Low Oil sensor is on the passenger side of oil pan.

90's don't have low oil sensor.
91-92 on driver side.

Does anyone have expirience with adapting a rolling SBC engine storage stand like one of the below to work with an LT5 block?

Unless you have the stand shown already, why not just buy a Delco engine stand from O-Reillys? I think they are about $60. i have 3 and they're OK.

So was this a good deal? My question was on the heads..... old photos etc.

I figured it was about a $3,000 package but many unknowns and a long drive or $550 to ship.

Picking it up on Wednesday together with Rick and Dave. I just hope this turns out real and the block and heads have no serious issues. I'm not so concerned about the crank, pistons, and liners as I have something else in mind. Thanks again to everyone who helped with advise.

Hey, its exciting just the same. You will either be elated or perhaps let down but it has to be worth at least $1,000 unless the block is $$#$.

It's a gamble but I think you will be happy. I was going buy it but didn't feel like paying $550 to ship it and the only truck I have is a panel truck that gets about 10 miles per gallon.

Thanks Jerry,
For now I plan to store it in the corner of my size-challenged garage taking up little room as possable. I was thinking one of these little roller stands would just be the ticket if it could some how be bolted up to the LT5 block . Unfortuatly there are no O-Reillys stores in the DC area.

I bought one of these types of engine stands off of ebay...it looks very similiar to the bottom one you have pictured. I tried and tried and couldn't get the holes to line up in any configuration I tried. Also the vertical support posts...front to back...were two far apart for my LT5.

For long term storage, I think this type of engine stand would create less mechanical stress at the rear of the block than the traditional engine stand. The dead weight would be more evenly distributed. There are two down sides to using this type of engine stand for anything other than storage:

1 - you can't rotate the engine to work on it
2 - the engine sits very low to the ground

I'm just speaking from the experience I had...your's may work out.

Picked the engine up yesterday and could find no issues after a thorough inspection.
Special thanks to Rick, David, and Jim for taking the time to help me out.
Jim will post some pics later showing how the mission went.
One thing is for sure we all came away with a greater respect for the methods the Ancient Egyptians used to build the great pyramids after finally getting it loaded on Rick's truck.

Wow! So you did get it, huh?
I got to go over and check it out when I have some free time.
I have never seen a LT5 out of the car.
Congratulations!

It was a good day to take a trip with some Z brothers. Phil got a good deal,(stole it) ;) it took us longer to get the thing loaded in the truck with 2ft of snow around us than it did to tie & gag the guy up.:eusa_shhh
Congrats Phil  she is all safe and sound, do you want me to put the heat on to keep her warm?

Left the house in MD at 6AM, met David and Phil at 7:30AM, met Rick in NJ, got to Boston 3PM, inspected and loaded the LT5, stopped in Danbury to see Scott, and made it back to home at 3AM.

950 miles!

Hung out all day with my buddies, picked up Phil's LT5. It doesn't get any better than that.

Here is the LT5 at the storage place where Phil is doing the receipt inspection:

I didn't get any pictures of the actual loading the engine into the truck because I was ....... well, I was loading the engine into the truck. As always, Phil was very well prepared with everything we needed to load and secure the engine.

Thanks to Scott in Danbury for hosting a short stop on the way back home:

Thanks for posting the pics.
Perhaps it’s better that our loved ones (and insurance companies) don't see us in action loading the engine.
