Gadzooks! When December rolls around, I will have aged 10 years since this thread started!! Feels like 20. Hip replacement next year. The doc said I should get it done when it starts to adversely affect my lifestyle. I told him I was having more and more trouble getting in and out of my Corvette. He said, Oh! that constitutes an emergency! --Bob

This thread seems to be out dated. I know I've moved up an age group since voting and I'll bet many others have too.

The thread started in December 30, 2009. This is April 6, 2020 and the majority of us are forced to stay at home. We’ll be much older when things get back to normal.
I suggest putting Sta-Bil in the Z for the long haul of storage. I’ve got over 40 bottles of wine to hold us over. Good alcohol though is only 5 bottles. I hate rationing as I’m now 72 with a lot of free time.
Thank heavens for all Ya All on the Forum to read about working on your Z’s! It’s a highlight of my day in Covantine at home!

Don't forget to come back here every birthday and update your poll answer.
Maybe add a year and then the average will be your real age. And the year after that add three years (, etc.).

They really are special cars. I remember when they were new I had just graduated high school. My father used to take me in his 70' Chevelle to the dealer to see them.
My son loves this car! We got it in Illinois and on the way home I took him to the factory and Museum in Bowling green.

It's a different generation now... most kids don't even want to learn to drive. Anything to get the next generation interested in real cars.
The neatest part was finding out when we got home the engine had been autographed by Tommy Morrison and Dave McMillen

Cool! I noticed that and it is shocking. My Mom let me drive illegally when I was 10 and I learned to drive a stick on Mazda RX-3 back in Hawaii. I have never even seen one here in Japan.

Thanks. I guess I would never ask people their age in conversation. Yeah, I am a newbie to many and it is great that even folks that have long sold their cars are still around. These cars have some kind of magic for all of us with it in common. Nice to see all the new members joining as you said to keep the dream alive.

Craig, if you're over the hill, then I must be somewhere down in the valley rolling around. I have aged 13 years since this thread started. And I was around with the original ZR-1 Registry with Larry Merow in the early '90s and bought my '93 ZR-1 in 1994. Oh well, happy to still be on the green side of the grass and still driving a Corvette (although not longer a ZR-1, but 650 horsepower does make up for that a bit). --Bob

Bob,
You are the man, the myth, the legend! I only know I am at retirement age and looking forward to it in less than two years. That will finally give me the time to enjoy my hobbies instead of trying to do so much on just the weekend. It is great we have a bunch of old timers here to learn from. I have a huge bin of LT5 Registry newsletters that I have not even had the time to read and I guess I can do that in retirement. The guy I bought my 91Z from in Hawaii was into it and left me all the stuff he collected. It is pretty interesting to see how they did it all in those days mailing hard copy newsletters. Those were the true innovators leading the way when these cars came out.
I am glad you are still here despite your new car. It is the people like you after all that make it great. Thank you.

Thank you for the inspiration and something to look forward to. I will try to do the same but it is so expensive to keep old cars, especially imports here in Japan. The road tax with our 5.7 liters is almost 1,000 USD a year depending on the yen exchange rate since all my income is USD. I?m protected now since I work for the US military but have to pay the piper soon not counting all the other weight tax and registration. With insurance and everything else you can imagine annual running cost. You are right as it will keep me young if I can afford it.

Flattery will get you everywhere, Craig. Hope you can retire as soon as you want--I guarantee you will enjoy it. I retired fully about 8 years ago and really semi retired seven years before that and sold BMWs and MINIs at a local dealer for fun (not profit). No regrets at all. Just this weekend we had our 8 year old granddaughter up for an overnight and had to grocery shopping; she lit up and said "Can we go in the Corvette, Pop?" the next day when working on a project with her, I said we probably should go to the hardware store for a couple small parts. She once again said, "Can we go in the Corvette?" Retirement doesn't get any better than that. --Bob

Thanks Bob! The money is easy and great with the best job in my life, but I think I have to let it go and walk away. Since COVID I have not had a chance to spend time with my parents. Mom will be 89 and Dad will be 92 next month; I need to spend quality time with them while they are alive and healthy as I missed so much because of moving around the world with the military.
Time with your granddaughter and her time with you money cannot buy and invaluable. That's awesome and she is going to be hooked now. I see the two Dennis's here with their grandkids on FB and it's lovely to see. Take care and I hope we both outlive our dicks with no regrets.:D (Quote by Willie Nelson and you)

34. Bought my 1990 at the end of 2018 (took her home in 2019); bought it because my dad has always been a huge corvette fan, and has been enamored with the Z's since I was little. You could say I bought it for him?I had a viper at the time, and I had visions of he and I driving the blue ridge parkway together here in NC. Alas, that did not work out?my dad's infatuation turned out to be just that, and I fell in love with the sound of that big 5.7L. I set about pouring myself into restoring / modding the old beast. Covid made bringing her back a tad difficult?and then a little confrontation with a curb earlier this summer (faulty power steering pump) set me back a bit further. Nearly there, though; hopefully she's on the parkway in time for this fall season.

When I first was having some pain and saw the hip surgeon (who owns an Aston Martin and is a bit of a car guy),I asked him when I should have a replacement done. He said I should get the surgery done when it starts adversely affecting my lifestyle. I said that it is now a bit harder getting in and out of my Corvette. He said, "Oh!
