View Full Version : 1990 ZR1, Look it Over?

I am looking at a ZR-1 located in, East Haddam, Connecticut, United States and was curious if anyone would be interested in looking it over for me? Its green w tan interior and has about 36k miles on it. I am nowhere near it so I can't get an in person look at it.

The owner has already said it would be fine for a local corvette owner to stop in and look it over for me.

Glad you made it over to the real ZR-1 forum, Phil.
Sure hope someone here knows someone near the car.

Good luck in your search, neighbor. These cars are special!

Please let me know if you make the purchase!

I will, thanks for sending me to the site. I think shipping would run just over $500 for a basic haul, so to get it enclosed I'm not sure. I think shipping it may be the best method though.

Hi Phil & welcome to our asylum!:handshak:

I do not know the car. I will have to look up Haddam CT on mapquest to see what I can do to look it over for you. I just wanted to post up so you would know that I got Scott's message and not leave you hanging in the wind.

Tom

Okay. it's 2 hrs from me. Straight shot up 95 & then some side roads to the interior of CT. I was thinking that maybe a good idea may be to go post this up in the NorthEast Events section at CF. Maybe this guy runs with the NorConn possie and somebody there may really know the car. Worth a shot JMHO. The possie I run with really doesn't do much with the CT possie, it's a shame as they have some nice secondary roads in CT.

Phil,

I'm emailing a friend that lives in Conn and not that far from the car you are looking at. He owns 2 ZR-1's and understands what to look for.

I'll update you as soon as I hear from him.

cheers

Well, got home today to find out that the auction was ended early. Looks like the seller changed the buy it now price from 14.5 to 12.5 and someone did the buy it now. I would imagine some talking off the listing took place. :( Such as it is looks like the car sold w/o me.

I see he has a 90 ZR-1 for sale

http://www.privatecollectorautogroup.com/car104.html

Plus he states he will split up the 6 collector set now but I bet that will not be cheap.

http://www.privatecollectorautogroup.com/carzr1.html

I see he has a good number of Vettes for sale now and even a

2001 FERRARI 360 MODENA COUPE

I think a lot of these are on consignment -- I need to go by his shop some Saturday and check em all out. It is only a mile from my house.

His picture of the 90 are not correct, he doubled up the 94.

Plus he is on crack at 240k, I can assemble a collection of lower miles cars over those 6 years.

Gee I did not know you were in the ZR-1 consignment business now?

Do you have a website we can view all of your consignment Corvettes at?

BTW MorpheusGPR not sure where you are located but there exist some
pretty good deals on the Net/Registry site at present as well.

No website. I get approached by people who are looking to sell and and see if I know anybody who is interested. Most of them I have worked on, so I can offer an opinion on condition.

I worked on two cars this past year that involved in a complete sale.

Not sure why you have to be a tool about it.

Merry Xmas.

If you absolutely want a car you will find one.How much money do you want to spend first off?Prices for ZR-1s have never been this cheap,at least Ive never seen them this cheap.Theres a guy about 20 miles from me with a white-tan 91,same owner since new,32K miles. He wants $20,000 for it.

The car at 12.5-14.5 on auction was right. Thats the main reason I started looking. I see several others that are around 13k right now as well, but reserves are not being met.

I know at 20k I could get a very nice vehicle, but not looking to spend that at this point. I have been keeping an eye on the web and watching to see how things progress with the various sales.

Phil, I agree with Rick....you can look like the rest of us! -->

:hello: Rick! Jingle Bells to you & the family!

I would add this for your consideration Phil. If you are going to really use the car to go on runs with other vette owners, and do this a lot? Get one that has already been dunn, ported & headers & any thing else that you think that you might do eventually. It's cheaper to buy a car that is modded than to buy a stock one and do the mods yourself. JMHO:redface:

Good luck in the search!

Phil,

That price was very unusual.... The owner tried to sell it for a long while and had many tire kickers. Don't get a $$$$ in your head because some cars that look great, need work. That will negate that "great price".

Have you driven a ZR-1 yet? Once you drive it, I think you will rethink price. Our cars are going for 40 cents on the dollar now....

Good luck and keep us informed.

^^^ I have too many projects in progress now to add another! If I had more experience with motor swaps and could get it done quick that would be a viable option. I have grown to where I like the original vehicles, always use to like adding/changing things.
