Those of you who are familiar with DC, I have been working and commuting to Georgetown for 2 weeks. While my monthly parking is being processed I am parking daily in a surface lot operated by Colonial parking since I can park myself rather than having to valet (I have seen how these attendants abuse cars - intentionally while smoking down at below grade parking garage!!!).
Once processed as monthly, I can park myself even below grade garage.
Well, last Wednesday after 9 hours of parking, I walk up to the car and I see scratches on lower front bumper, driver side - good thing I was checking!
I call the attendant and bring his attention to this and he says "well, it's minor damage, it's like parking on the street...". I tell him I am paying $20/day so that I can avoid this kind of bulls**t! He keeps trying to weasel out of this. So, I point to the sign on his shack "All damages must be reported bofore leaving the premise". After shouting at him for awhile, I ask for his boss's #, call and finally get the form to report the incident. After I fill out my portion, the attendant fills out his portion and checks the box that says "uncertain" to a question - did the dmge happen at the lot?
Well, Ias I am signing the form I check the box "certain". He contests and I tell him your opinion vs. mine!
I had a preliminary discussion w/ the Claims dept. Hopefully their insurance will cover the repair... Life of urban living and my insistance in enjoying the car everyday...
Ah, well... On the positive side, front bumper had a whole lot of speckles from 108,000 miles of driving and it's about time to clean it up.
I have been a very good boy. Santa. Please???

Yun,
Sorry to hear man, but it could have been worse.
Guess your not going to put the cow pusher on the Z and head up to Jim's tomorrow?

If I can drive? For sure!
It looks like I won't even make it out the garage door. 'Know what I mean?
s for the bumper, really it needed new paint. So, this may be a blessing in disguise.

I would think his answere to ALL damage at the lot would be uncertain as he is prolly reading comic books in the shack :sign10:
Just give the guy a "second chance" :D
I would have reacted the same as you for sure
I did tip him extra the next day.
I just don't like to leave my car with someone who hates me. Know what I mean?

Bummer about the damage. The new paint job will make the car look a lot better but it is always a hassle getting it done.
What, you mean you aren't driving up here today????
I have been out in the garage getting it warmed up. It's only about 9' deep and still coming down here in Westminster. :jawdrop:

I feel for you Yun. If it would have been me I wouldn't have found the problem until I got home.

Same thing happened to me when I had my damaged resonator replaced at the muffler shop. I got it home and noticed a scratch on the drivers side 49th street rocker. And I know damn well it wasn't there before. But it was to late. At least you caught it before you left. You might get lucky.

I learned to give the car a quick once over after being at places where a damage could occur. Learned it a hard way.

Not as bad as the damage I suffered. Car is totaled. Not the ZR-1 thank god. Lost the Volvo to some ******* in a parking lot.

No note. Parking lot has no security cameras.

I understand your pain.
When I find myself having to park in a place with what I would consider a tight parking lot I document the placement of the vehicles next to me.
Then I stand back and take a few camera phone pictures of the neighboring cars including mine with license plates in the picture. The other day I left a car placement diagram that I drew up on the dash of the Z when I went to take a 3 hour exam. This way if they nerf my car and get out to look at the damage (fat chance ) they will probably notice that their license plate number is right there for the record. I only do this when I know I will be gone for some time. If you have to park in a tight spot in a busy lot on a regular basis it is only a matter of time before somebody will nerf you.
A few years ago I went to a local casino and parked out a ways relative to the cars parked when I got there. When I came out the fire department was there because the car next to mine had caught on fire. Luckily only water and ash were on my car and it washed off when I got home. I asked for a free detail from the casino to see if I could get lucky. The manager in charge pointed to the no responcibility sign and said no, I am not going to give you any money to detail your car. The residue wasn't bad by any means, just some ash. The part that concerned me was that the first 6 fire estinguishers they tried didn't work... by then the fire truck showed up and they took care of it. The firemans efforts were right on... they didn't open the hood ( fuel leak I think ) until they had sprayed a lot of water through the radiator and wheel wells in an effort to not have it flare up when the hood was opened.

Sorry about your Volvo, Jeff. My son's Grand Cherokee (2002 I bought for $5300) got totaled while he was visiting his friend (I think was a hot chick) got slammed during the middle of the night while parked. This guy hit the car so hard pushed the Jeep into the other car parked next to him. Luckily the guy who hit him must have been a young scared kid and was nice enough to leave him a phone number before leaving the scene (most likely a drunk VA. Tech. kid).
Well, his insurance totaled the car and paid me the Blue Book price - $7300.
Needless to say, I didn't bit*h too much about the incident.
Do you think there is a market for Claymore mines reworked and positioned under our Zs wired to a motion sensor?

The next morning I saw a valet had damaged our SUV.
Of course they said it happened after we left, but luckily
there were surveilance cameras that showed the incident.
Quite a hassle to get it fixed. Lesson- even if the wife
b*tches, don't valet park. If you do, check the car before you
leave. Also, notice how they tear off your half of the ticket?
Their half has a schematic of the car where any prior
damage is to be marked. Ask to see it first and CIRCLE
the entire car. That means there is no existing damage.
Remember the valet in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off?" Classic

I just hate it when that happens. You pay extra money to someone to watch after your car and it still gets messed up. How Frustrating.
