As noted in a previous post I got a line on a set of Gen2 Dymags with Michelin tires mounted on Craigslist in LA. I have to thank Lgaff for finding them. No Lee I'm not paying a finders fee.
Well, I bought and picked them up today. All I can say is... WOW!
I have to say I lucked out again! The wheels are in perfect condition and newly silver powdercoated. 13X17 rears and 11X17 fronts. In perfect condition! The tires are near new as well. 335-35-17 Michelin XGT-Z's in the rear and 275-40-17 Michelin Pilot Sports on the front. Unbelievable!
The seller told me he bought the wheels 10 years ago from ZR-1 owner in Hollywood for $3000 and later bought the Michelins. Apparently the Z was set up for road racing.
The best part is I only paid $1200!:dancing
Here are some pix for curious among you. Now as soon as the transport delivers my car and I can get moved in to the new house, I'll get them mounted. More pix to follow.
ohhh..my OEM salad shooters with low mile Sumi's will be for sale shortly.

Never seen a set machined in the center like that, appears several options on that design.

Great find! To say I'm jealous would be an understatement. They sure would look good on a lowered yellow 415....

We move into the new house Tuesday, I'm in Orange Hills near Anaheim. Where's the T&T going to be?
Can't wait to get these on the car!.
Lee, they look like the ones in the lower left of the brochure you posted. Are you refering to the groove machined around the center?

Yes, Never seen those before. I found out that this series of wheels was desgined by someone outside of Dymag. Will send him a note and see if he has some more info on the design and a better pic of this add. Todd Cerami has a set of the same design for the Porsche 911.

The Z arrived today in good shape! I always sweat handing the car over to the transporters. Moving truck arrives tomorrow. With any luck I'll get the wheels mounted by the end of the week. Can't wait.
To the FBI guys, it was 84 degrees and sunny here today, took the Z for a short ride. I'm really going to like this 12 month a year driving weather. Need to get over to the Coast Highway.

glad she made it out safe , the only trouble with 12 months of driving is the miles pile up in a hurry. i put 100 k miles on the blk 90 in 5 years. it looks like the dr cleared me to go to the strip so i will be there ,but it sounds like you will be busy moving in . hope to one day finally meet one of the fbi guys :thumbsup: i know we will get a chance to have some fun beating up ojn some cars a t the strip this next year

Update on the Dymag fitment...:-D
I spent the last week doing honeydews and getting the new place livable after moving in 7 days ago. We have 90% of it done, so I had some time to check the fitment of the wheels on the car.
The news is mostly good. The rears fit perfectly with the outer face of the wheel and tire flush with the fender lip. It appears no spacers will be required. The previous owner told me they came off a ZR-1 so I was hopeful that would be the case. There are however two minor interference issues. The brake lines (I'm running Earls Stainless) and the e-brake cable hit the tire. I'm going to have to find a way to route them differently to give me clearance. If anyone has experience with this let me know and help save me some time. I think I will need some sort of a 90 degree fitting where the brake line meets the caliper. On the e-brake cable I'm not sure what to do. It's a tight fit and there's no slack in the cable to work with. I'm open to suggestions.

Hans,
Good to hear. I should be getting my Z06 wheels and tires by next week. I had a slight interference issue with my Russell lines but don't expect it once I have an 18mm spacer on there. I understand the brake line can be custom built with the line at a different angle for junction block and avoiding tire altogether without need for special retainers.
BTW, a Bill Little contacted me and he is in LA. Looking for someone that may be able to help him out with his ZR. Not sure what year but its been
put away for a year and now won't start. Somebody is telling him its the
ignition module???!

Dom,
I figured you'd get the Z06 wheels. They looked really good on your car when you posted the pix a few weeks ago. Are you lowering too?
Have Bill get ahold of me, mybe I can help. Funny, I know a Bill Little here in LA from my Benz days. Can't imagine it's the same guy.

Hans, until you get your custom brake lines dunn, you can use a zip tie to move the line away from the tire/wheel. Mine are still doing the job after 4 yrs.
The P/brake cable is something stock Z aftermarket wheels don't encounter. I guess you could try to zip tie that but I'm not thinking it has enough slack. Maybe going back further forward on the cable to see if it can be routed differently to gain a different entry point to the wheel house & angle to the caliper cable bracket? It might be easier to just buy /have spacers made?:dontknow:
Good luck in you new house, and may it be a happy home for your family!

Dymags are on!:dancing Used zip ties to hold back the brake lines as several of you suggested. Definitely have to get modified lines as a permenent solution.

E-brake cables turned out not to be a problem. They cleared by about 3/4 of an inch. Center caps don't fit, the ones off the original wheels are a tiny bit too small. I have a set that came with the wheels, I'll try them.
Lowering is going to a winter project, I agree it needs to come down a bit.
Lee, yes that's a sealed floor. Came with the house.

Interesting (and very minor) note... I tried the center caps that came with the wheels today and they snapped right in perfectly. It appears that 90' center caps are ever so slightly smaller than the 91-96' caps. Enough that they wound not hold into place on these wheels.
Now it just needs to stop raining so I can get out a drive! I know, quit whining, I could still be in Chicago!
