Got them last week and had pictures to post. Checked the camera and the wife had deleted them. That said I am very happy with them. They replaced tires that were 10 years old and comparing them to the old set would not be fair as the old set was in bad shape. Finding a matching set of tires is very limited at this time not many tire makers support the rear tires. Fronts you can find all day from many sources. However with all of that said the Nitto's are an outstanding value. I paided $920.00 mounted, balanced with four wheel alinement. I chose them due to the price and for the tread design. I think they look very aggressive.

I was thinking about these also. It's been a bit tough to find any "customer" feedback. I looked over at Discount Tire's site and read the reviews on the 05's, but there were not many that used them on C4's.

That said, I was going to take the chance and buy a set for my car, as they're about $400.00 less a set than the D3's. My guess would be that the wet grip could be close to the D3's judging by the almost exclusive side drainage of the pattern. Nitto certainly didn't skimp on the contact patch, it is even a bit larger than the D3's.

Let us know if you get caught in the wet with these & what your impressions of the grip level is.

I will do that, but this is going to be a mid winter transaction. I have my oem salad shooters and I want the NT05's to use on those wheels. I don't use the car much during the snowy season, too much salt on the roads up here!

I actually don't even really need tires from a tread depth aspect. My rear D'3 are two yrs old but my front D3's are from 1/05 and have almost 32,000 miles on them and are about 1/2 gone. Not bad for a tire that has a 280 wear rating I thought. I just think that they are getting a bit hard, and not quite sure if I'm over the age limit for having safety in mind?

my GSC's are 12 years old and have tons of tread...I am going to try to let them go to a guy with NCRS in mind.

Tomi had the same problem with my dg3s on the front. after 21/2 yrs they got hard and started to bounce at 70 mph. the nittos are great tires

I am ordering the Nittos...they are saving me 355.00 over the D3's and the guys with C6 Z06 seem to like them and say they hook very well...enough to break one guys rear end at the track. The also look pretty good. 962.00 out the door at discount tire right now for all 4.

I should have enough left over to order some new injectors too!

Yes Brad, I agree and I hate to say that I would actually feel better if they had worn out after 30k miles. I wouldn't be so 'conflicted' about what to do. At the shoulders is where they have worn the most, evenly & no cupping, but their water draining ability has become a bit less as I can feel them slide a bit when cornering specially upon turn in. The meat in the center of the tread is almost perfect after 30k. I was almost sure I would never get close to this long wear when I first bought these tires, you know with the 280 rating & all, and the front rubber is getting harder to the touch and the grip is starting to suffer even in the dry. I need to put more temp into them for the front to have the bite I want.

I was thinking about my choices yesterday and I may just buy two new front D3's to save some cash as an answer to my situation. That way I might have enough cash left over to get my headers fixed and coated and even installed this winter.:redface:

I wonder if there is a tool that measures tread hardness? Using my finger nails seems to be a stupid way of testing the tread rubber! I can feel the difference between the fronts and rears though. The fronts even pick up less pebbles than the rears now when they are hot. That was one of the first things I noticed about these tires when they were new....the pick up was so obvious I thought they had velcro on them.:sign10:

Take another 50.00 off the price because I ordered them from a store that wasn't the closest...so when I called to cancel they said they already ordered them in and I said I dont care so they offered another 50.00 off. Saweet. So $912.00.

It's called a durometer and serious racers use them to judge tire condition.
The lower the durometer number, the softer the rubber.
