I need 5 people willing to buy one and I think I will be 1 of them so probably only 4. You will be buying from the vendor just as I will be. I don't want to be responsible for $$$ etc.

Let me know in this thread, if you are IN

That is a VERY good price, and with the clutch package too, free money!

Is this the correct clutch for the LT5? The L98 or LT1 clutch will not work. It will shred the belt very short order!

Why would it not be the right clutch??

Because having some of the experiances that I have had owning an LT5 give me cause to question some replacement parts. i.e. When I purchase my 90 Z the belt was shredding. I replaced it and it promptly shedded again within days. I went through the receits that came with the car and discovered that the previous owner had the dealer replace the AC clutch. I checked the part no on the invoice and it was not the correct pn for the LT5 clutch. I had to take the car back to the dealer and show him the error including the correct pn which he ordered and replace without charge to his credit. So, all I am saying is that the LT5 has a unique AC clutch and make sure this compressor comes with the correct part. The LT5 is a unique beast!

Ahh, indeed things are not always as they seem.

The LT5 A/C compressor does indeed use different clutches!

Only this is interchangeable http://www.whiteracingproducts.com/images/10153605.jpg

The pulley and magnet are different. I don't have the L98 and LT5 to place side by side, but there is differences in them.
Either way though, that's still a great price with or without the clutch.

So, these are only for the 1990? What's the difference for the 1991, do you know?

I will double check the clutch but its a specific Denso Compressor for LT-5, and seems stupid that Denso would sell a specific Compressor for LT-5 and bolt the wrong clutch on it.

What are the part numbers of the correct clutch for the LT5?

These have been sold to a bunch of ZR-1 owners in the past and its a compressor for the ZR-1 so I'm not sure why
Denso would sell a Compressor for the LT-5 and bolt on a clutch for a LT1 or L98? Regardless, thanks for the post
and I'll check into it to make sure its the correct part.

The 91-95 compressors are indeed different and they are $425 a piece.

The one time, its better to have a 90

I will confirm the clutch in the next few weeks as a new shipment is coming in.

If you want a 90, let me know within the next 2 weeks.

It's a good deal on the compressor alone and it has a warranty for 2 years.

If not, I'll just buy it on my own and pay the extra $$ as a single buyer.

The only difference i remember is the wire connector plug.

For the price difference i would buy a 90 and replace the weather pack plug.:)

1990 ZR-1 uses clutch assembly part 10158044 NLA

The 90-91 are the same compressors, BUT not the same clutches, the 91-95 uses clutch part # 10243785, also, the 91-96 LT1 - LT4 cars clutch isn't the same as the LT5, they use part # 10243784

The only differences with the 90-95 clutch assemblies are the wire connectors, the 90 is unique, the 91-95 are the same for all years.

Gets confusing i know, but you should try and inventory this ****.

Bump for an old thread -- AM I understanding correctly, that a 1990 compressor can be used in a 1991, if the wiring harness connector is changed? Or is there some other difference that makes this impossible?
