You guys are gonna love this one. And I'm sure this belongs in race stories section but it will get noticed here quicker. I went to coffee and cars this morning and it was packed. At least 200 cars. I saw some of the guys from my vette club out there. The clubs website master Chris has a 2002 Z06 with headers and I don't know what kind of exhaust he has but it's been lowered and looks good but there has been a show down state of mind between us instigated by another member. One day we would see. Well today was that day. Oh yeah:mrgreen: He checked out my engine compartment and said how good it looked. Then he said its work in progress. But it's coming together. And I just wanter to back hand this pompous b**ch. So I was leaving and getting close to hoping on the toll road. And he just flies by me with that raspy sounding exhaust. It was on then. I got up right beside him and at 60mph downshifted to where I was at 5000rpms and just put the hammer down. And every time we lined up I pulled on him. I had the top off so the third time I went up to 150mph and and almost lost my baseball cap when the wind caught it. So I had one hand on my hat and the other on the stearing wheel. It took him 5 minutes to catch up with me after I slowed down to 70. Then we waved at each other and he turned off. I wonder what that sucker thinks now. Work in progress "Hhaa! Chew on that buddy.=D>

It's better just to ignore ignorant, mentally deficient people like that. People like that don't deserve a response. He probably feels threatened by the awesomeness of your ZR-1 with his more common Z06, so he needed to trash-talk yours to make him feel better.
Plus, what the C5 crowd considers a "finished car" has to have all sorts of stick on blingy, shiny, "look at me", overcompensating type parts on it. They just don't appreciate the raw awesomeness of a clean C4 ZR-1 in its natural state.
But your solution sure sounds like a lot more fun!!

Among car guys only the winner gets respect. And once in a while I like to win. The rest of the time the beast sleeps in the garage. Look I know my vette is not the fastest one on the road. But a c5 zo6 with headers and light weight flywheel can be beat by a 90 ZR-1 with top end porting and a Fidanza flywheel without headers. Because I proved it today. And with headers and a tune I'll just pull away further. I don't like hearing the c5 and c6 guys talking about the c4 Z like it's beginner's vette because we all know better.

At the "work in progress" comment, I probably just would have said "yeah, I need to cover the whole thing with plastic, then it should be done"...
But kudos on dishing out the spanking.

The traction was even worse this time. The first run I practically burned rubber until I shifted into fourth and did a 13.2. The second run I got a good launch but in 3rd gear my tires just started spinning and the rear end started heading towards the wall so I had to let of for a second and it straightened out. I was still hovering in the 12.9's two out of the four runs. I'm not gonna go back until headers a good tune and some more sticky tires are taken care of.

All I can say............ is Good For You Rick!
I hate to beat a dead horse. I'm thinking that even with D3's the traction would be an issue even accounting for the fact that they do seem to get stickier as they heat up.
As to the "work in progress" comment. Perhaps some one should tell all the LSx owners that if it were not for the LT5, there would be a good chance that they would be still using first generation mouse motor technology. Oh, and I would also remind them that our ignition system's configuration is more visually pleasing than using plastic covers to hide the working parts. Not to mention that some body had to be "first" to not use a distributor.

Huh..... I'd throw those things in the bush, myself . Glad you like em'....just not sure why you like em' :icon_scra.Why! Have you tried them? I've had KDWS's and Good year F1's. But I'm not afraid to try something new. I paid $329 factory direct on fleabay for both rears 315/35/17 50$ shipping and $50 to have mounted and balanced. I notice the grip difference immediately even in the rain. Mine have taken quit a beating at the strip and the tread is pretty much history hence the grip issues. But when they were brand new I couldn't break them loose no matter how hard I accelerated. And yes I'm gonna buy another set. This time I'm gonna by all four. At the time I didn't want to commit to buying all four if they turned out not to be any good. So unless you've tried them don't knock em.

i think its a price thing for rick . a tire that i want to take a look at would be the new nitto street tire .mid price point compared to 700 that i just paid for 2 rear dg3 .i love the dg3 ,but i am single unlike rick who has a family where money is way more important .

I've had a couple customers that have tried them, & yes I drove their cars too, they didn't like them at all...even new they had a hard time getting off the line. I dunno, maybe they are just making more jam than you & that tipped the scale just enough between bite & spin :dontknow:. Also not sure why you would think I'd post something with having any hands on experiance....

Ryan I respect your thoughts on this stuff so I try not to assume anything about anybody. I'd rather have a good set of tires than a cheap set of tires. The Vreds are or were the #1 performance tires in Europe. $1200 to $1600 for a set of tires doesn't mean they are better. Because the KDWS's and F1's were over $1200 a set "Sorry" but the Vreds stuck better. I know some may hate to hear that but they did. I did research on them before buying them and they got great reviews. It's your choice what you put on your car. What do I care. No matter what kind of street tire you buy, when the tread is almost gone they arent gonna be worth a sh*t.

take a look at the Nitto 05's. I am thinking about going with them. For me it is btwn them or GY D3's. You can find the Nittos at Discount tire. I am finally turning the corner financially personally and my ZR-1 is finally going to shed the 12 year old GSC's. Two weeks and I should be back in TX. I am getting tired of California.

Riverside...a little outside of LA I guess. The weather is good...I just can't get my ZR-1 fix here. I'm having a bitch of a time watching Texas Tech and Houston Texans football out here too. The local Hooters isn't half bad though. They had a carshow lastweekend and not even one vette showed up. Weird huh.
