Well,

Unless something goes awry I will be picking up a 2nd 17X11 and have a complete set of ZR-1 Gen I Dymags......so it begs the question. Do I take my 90 and do a snakeskinner package(Ported intake.........Sans AC, Radio, etc) or sell them all and cash in. I already had an interested party in one of the wheels...he might have waited too long.

Your thoughts?

Lee,

Keep them, use them.... They are guaranteed to increase in value.

Congrats!

Take the money and run. Better investments out there than a set of wheels with limited audience.

Keep in mind I bought 4 Gen I 17x9.5s, 1 17X11 GenI, and 4 Gen II 17x9.5s, 1 Perkins Dymag all for $290. Sold the 4 Gen Is for $1600, and the Perkins for $300. So I am +$1600

With the current set, I already have the 2 fronts sold for the full cost of what I am buying all 5 wheels for....so utlimately I in the plus on Dymags.

Yes I am trying to justify keeping them:mrgreen:

The trick with Lexan is that it needs to be mounted to an aluminum frame........apparently that is what was done with this car. Christ they have Lexan windshields too.

Keep em'. There will always be a buyer for something that special. Plus the 'Cool' factor of having them is way high . Cash is just cash, at the end of the day...

I have a bud that's starting to look for some Callaway Dymags for a 1991 B2K. If anyone has any leads on some please let me know.
Thanks

If you can make some money, I'd sell them. They aren't any lighter than many forged aluminum wheels. They don't have much brake clearance, and are kind of a "clunky" style. The spokes are real thick, as is the barrel, so they don't look very open.

I would also wonder how well magnesium wheels retain their strength over time?

Well, between the Hvac box, A/C parts, seats, seat switches, door panels, center console, all carpeting, exhaust manifolds, secondary parts, a bunch of misc.parts i.e. ECM plastic cover,TB cover, radio, speakers, radio bezel, rear shade etc.
He can eliminate ABS if he wanted.

I think Lee paid $9k for the car if he gets $3-4k back heck he will have a
$5k Skinner that will haul some butt.

Snake Skinner also had third brake light removed from the roof to the rear bumper, only 1 outer taillight worked on either side. Carbon Fiber brakes(yes in 1991), Center counsel out, cloth seats, radio ant, etc.

Isn't that about what just selling the Dymags would bring for $. He could still sell the parts of the SS and completely recoup his purchase price of car.

Brad i did not go all out with my Z.
I did subtle wieght savings if you sit in my Z or just walk by looks like a stocker.

In addition to Marc H.wieght saving tips from his web site.
I have also done.
After 3 years of debating it i finally did a pros and cons on the A/C
pros: i have A/C.
cons: i haven't used it since i've owned the car over 10 years,so i decided to yank it this past year (still have heat).

I have installed light wieght carpet,1994-95 door panels (lighter),
no power seats w/wiring & switches,aluminum pullies,cruise control,oil cooler temps stay in the 180's i don't Road Race.
More little things i just can't remember right now i will post as they come to me.

I was gonna do lexan rear window but was too flimsy so i decided against it, a carbon hood is way overpriced.

Thinking about pulling the Corsa exhaust off.....going with this combo

2" Watson headers
No CATS
3" Chambered Exhaust
Muffler Elimantors

Anyone running a combo close to this.

With the abov exhaust mods...

AC Delete-40lbs
Radio Delete-25lbs
Lightweight Flywheel-20lbs
Dymags-6lbs
Spare Tire Delete-46lbs
Switch to manual seats-15lbs
Headers-18lbs
Muffler Eliminators-17lbs
Sunshade-5lbs
Emission equip removal-10lbs

I think this puts me at about 3200lbs or maybe even alittle under with a few other small deletions.

So I'm thinking Pete is carrying ~7lbs per rwhp. With Marc's 500 Hp package and a few weight adds and reductions, I'm thinking I'm at ~8lbs per rwhp. I'm assuming a stock MY90 or 91 is at ~11lbs per rwhp.

Lee, where do you think you'll be?

Am guessing about 35lbs removed

Anyone know how to remove the rear shade on a 90?

Pete should, but if you take the top trim off and side trim you can get to it better. it is spring loaded to fit into 2 slots one on each side

So you selling off the stuff you remove?

As for the amp, if it is in high demand then it will sell for more $$

you could grind a lot of aluminum out of the heads, injector housings,& plenum .
then remove the secondaries that should save some weight

Any way to dump the mufflers, but make the car streetable? Chambered for example? Other option is Lexan hatch, but would be easy to break into the car.

Ported intake is in the plan.

Thanks Guys, its kind of a ratrod ZR-1, paint is rough, high miles, and interior is beat up, lets hope it goes like hell.

Drove it today, power seems good, it seems odd vs driving the 92 with 4.09 gears.....with 4.09s you have to watch your revs, they come up fast, with stock gear it seems to take awhile to redline. The front end feels lighter in terms of steering, I took about 70lbs or so off the front with the AC, wheel, headers, and emissions
