Here's some excellent info on clutch care from Ranger. Many of you probably know him because of his record runs in Z06s and C6 ZR1.
In anticipation of going to the track this weekend, I visited his website to pick up some pointers and watched this vid.

His website is www.rangeracceleration.com. Some very good info I look forward to trying soon.

I have had an issue with missing 2nd gear and decided to watch, then I decided to check my fluid and just as predicted, it was a muddy black color. Went through the steps Ranger outlines here to clean up the master reservoir and fluid. Took about 4-5 times before fluid showed no contamination. Thought I would pass it along.
I am also investigating whether or not my clutch pedal may not be bent so that it no longer travels as far as needed to properly disengage the clutch. Keep you posted.

Yes, cool link. Thanks for posting it.

I wonder if we are as vulnerable to the clutch dust issue? It seems to me that our slave cylinders are a bit different. To my eye our slave cylinder bellows are much more robust at covering the entrance to the piston face and our push rod is entirely outside the fluid environment.:dontknow:

I think that the fluid should be changed on some regular schedule for sure. I do mine once every two yrs using my phoenix gun from the slave's bleeder. I check and empty the M/C as it gets cloudy as needed in between complete changes.

I had an e-mail conversation with Bill Boudreau about what the black specks are that we see floating in our fluid. He said that it is rubber from the piston seals. I think the next time I change mine out I'm going to strain it and dry it to see if it is clutch dust or rubber. Bill said rubber because the master's spacer causes the piston to move in an arch rather than in a flat line. He told me that the angle on that spacer is off just a bit.

 Just my thoughts on the subject.
